Senior Sessions can be so much fun and that’s why they are my favorite! So far I’ve had some of the sweetest Southern Missouri small town Seniors and I couldn’t have been happier! I love walking through nature, or downtown with my Seniors and just enjoying their company even if I’ve only just met them.

I really love making my senior sessions as laid back as possible. There’s a few different ways that I go about this. First of all I let them know from the get go to just relax and have fun.

I also try to show them how amazing they look in the photos, with in the first 5 to 10 minutes of a shoot. When your subject sees that you not only know what your doing but that they look fantastic it goes along way to calm any nerves that they may have.

Incorporating prompts is another great way to do get great photos while putting your subject at ease!

Walk away from me

and flip your hair to look behind you at the camera.

This prompt goes great in a field and she will love to collect some wild flowers with you to make a small bouquet. This is more than a prompt it’s a fun experience that she always remember!

This prompt really seems to bring the personality out of your senior! If they are sassy they will show it, if they are silly they will show i too and if they don’t mind laughing at their selves then they will! Whatever direction it goes, as long as you have made her feel beautiful while letting her know that what ever she does is GOLD then it’ll go amazing!

Hand on your neck

look down… now look up at me slowly all cool like.

I wouldn’t suggest doing this one right off the bat. Always start with easier prompts to loosen your guy Senior up! I did ones like Hands in the pockets leaning against the wall, sitting on steps and squatting with a cool building in the back ground, before trying this one out and I think it went pretty great!

I love the play with your hair prompt! I’ve used this many times and love it! It really seems to bring out the confidence in my lady seniors! Makes them feel cute and gives them something to do with their hands.

This one was funny. This was the closest thing to a smile I got out of him and it was because I said something dumb. “Walk like your just… walking??” who says that!? don’t be afraid of saying something a little silly. Usually I get great photos because I say something a bit dumb.
